Diabesity Changemakers Award 2026
For doctors in India whose work is changing diabetes and obesity care. Your work is judged on evidence, scored blind by an independent jury, and honoured on World Diabetes Day.
Why this award is different
We award the work, not the person.
India has many awards for doctors. Many of them reward a name, a network or a sponsorship. This one asks a simpler question: what did you do, and what changed for your patients?
You enter a piece of real work from your own practice. The jury does not see your name, your hospital or your city. They score it against a rubric that is published on this page, before a single entry comes in.
Five rules that protect the award
- Blind scoring. Names and institutions are removed before the jury sees an entry.
- Published rubric. Every point is awarded against the criteria below.
- The fee buys nothing. It is the same for everyone and has no bearing on selection.
- No pharma money. Prizes and grants are paid by the Foundation, not by any company.
- Every entrant gains. Each entry gets written jury feedback and a certificate.

Patients' Choice Award
A doctor nominated by a patient or a family member for care that changed their life. We call every shortlisted nominator to hear the story.
Nominated by patients. Free. Nominate your doctor
Who can enter
- Registered medical practitioners practising in India, with a valid NMC or State Medical Council registration
- Work done in India within the last three years
- Not eligible: Foundation trustees, Caspian Healthcare staff and consultants, jury members and their immediate family
How the jury decides
Two jurors score every entry, blind, out of 100.
If the two scores differ by more than 20 points, a third juror scores it. The top three in each category present their work online. Final rank is 60 per cent round 1 and 40 per cent the presentation.
- You enter online, upload one supporting PDF and pay the Rs 999 processing fee.
- The secretariat checks your registration and eligibility, and removes names and institutions from the entry.
- Two jurors score it blind against the rubric, and each writes three to five lines of feedback.
- Finalists present for 15 minutes online to the full jury, followed by questions.
- Winners are decided and kept sealed until the felicitation.
- Every entrant receives the jury feedback and a certificate from the Foundation.
The jury
Five to seven senior doctors and academics, chosen through open applications. The panel includes clinicians, at least one academic, and one person strong in data to check the quality of outcome audits.
Every juror signs a conflict of interest declaration and steps out of any entry where they know the applicant. The jury list is published here before results.
The convenor, Dr Khizer Hussain Junaidy, Managing Trustee, runs the process and does not score.
Apply to serve on the jury by 18 October.

Patients' Choice: the secretariat calls every shortlisted nominator to verify the story. The number of nominations a doctor receives helps shortlisting only, so the award cannot be won by a mass campaign.

Rules and fee
The rules, in plain words.
- Fee. Rs 999 per entry, paid online through Razorpay. It is a processing fee. It covers screening, jury coordination, certificates and the compendium. It has no bearing on selection. There is no other charge at any stage, including for shortlisting, winning or the felicitation.
- Refunds. The fee is not refundable once the entry is submitted. A duplicate payment, or a payment that failed but was debited, is refunded in full. See the refund policy.
- Patient data. Remove names, phone numbers, hospital numbers, photographs of faces and any other detail that could identify a patient. Entries with identifiable patient data are not scored.
- Consent and ethics. You confirm that patient consent or ethics committee cover is in place where it is needed.
- Blind entry. Do not write your name, hospital or city inside the summary or the PDF. The secretariat cleans any that slip through, but please help us keep it blind.
- Verification. The Foundation may verify your registration with your council and may ask for source data behind an outcomes audit. Any misrepresentation disqualifies the entry, and the fee is not refunded.
- Your work stays yours. You allow the Foundation to share the jury's decision and, only with your consent, to publish a summary of your entry.
- Final decisions. The jury's decisions are final. The Foundation may decide not to give an award in a category if no entry reaches the standard.
- Mentioning the award. Winners may mention the award factually, for example "Winner, Outcomes Award, Diabesity Changemakers Award 2026, Caspian Healthcare Foundation".
