Caspian Diabesity Expo
A public day on diabetes and obesity in Hyderabad. Entry is free with registration. Every registered visitor gets a free basic screening (sugar, blood pressure and BMI), the talks and stalls, lunch, and tea and water through the day.
For those who want more than a finger prick, the expo also offers a full metabolic check-up, with blood drawn at the expo, the report on WhatsApp the next working day, and a doctor's review of it. Doctors sit with people and explain what the numbers mean.
Alongside the screening there are sessions on diabetes reversal, obesity treatment, adult vaccination, foot care, meal planning and exercise, plus stalls from partner organisations.
The 2026 edition, planned for 14 November, is not being held. The expo plans to return in 2027; leave your number on diabesityexpo.com to hear the date first.

What a talk includes
- A lecture on one complication, in plain language
- Free blood glucose, blood pressure and BMI checks

Caspian Diabetes Talks
Most people with diabetes have been told to control their sugar. Very few have been told what the disease does to the eye, the kidney, the nerve and the foot, or what the early signs of each one feel like.
These sessions do that, in the language the audience actually speaks, with screening on the same day so the talk does not end in good intentions. They run through the year for community groups, workplaces, residents' associations and congregations.

Patient support
OWN, the Obesity Warriors Network
Weight treatment fails in the gap between appointments. OWN is a moderated group for patients on GLP-1 treatment, where the questions that come up at eleven at night get a sensible answer instead of a search engine.

- Support from other people at the same stage of treatment
- Practical content on side effects, food, dosing days and plateaus
Membership is limited to Caspian Healthcare patients currently on GLP-1 treatment, because the guidance given inside the group assumes a doctor is already following that person. It is not a substitute for a consultation, and no prescriptions are issued in the group.

For doctors
CASPIAN Certificate in Obesity Medicine
Obesity is now treatable with medicine, and most doctors qualified before that was true. The certificate course exists so that a physician in practice can learn to assess and treat obesity properly, with the evidence set out and the commercial noise left outside.
The Foundation hosts the course. Tuition funds the teaching. No pharmaceutical company sponsors the content or the faculty.

Diabesity Changemakers Award
An annual award for doctors in India whose work is changing diabetes and obesity care. Doctors enter an outcomes audit, a practice innovation or a teaching case. Two independent jurors score each entry against a published rubric, finalists present to the full jury, and winners are honoured on World Diabetes Day.
Patients and families can nominate their own doctor for the Patients' Choice Award, free of charge.
The 2026 edition has been cancelled. No entries are being judged this year, and any entry fee paid is being refunded in full.

- Jury chosen through open applications; jurors with a conflict step out

The internship in short
- For second and third year BA Psychology students
- Six hours of formal teaching, in two three-hour classes at Caspian Healthcare
- History taking and shadowing under a psychiatrist or psychologist, discussed individually with Dr Abdullah

For students
Psychology internship
BA Psychology courses ask students to complete a month of practical exposure, and good placements are hard to find. The Foundation runs this programme with the psychiatry department at Caspian Healthcare so that students learn from a practising psychiatrist, Dr Abdullah Kamlur, Psychiatrist and Sexologist.
